The Solar Photovoltaic System
The Solar Photovoltaic System is a compilation of various devices that link the homes’ solar system to a communications gateway that delivers information on energy performance to web-based monitoring and analysis software. The system has a micro-inverter manager (MIM.) The MIM collects energy and performance data over on-site AC power lines. It then forwards that data to the data storage online via the internet for statistical reporting.

The interface recaps graphically the number of kilowatt hours generate by the solar panels over time. It also estimates the total kilowatt hours and provides examples of what the energy produced equals. The system even calculates the CO2 offsets from the solar power generated in comparison to the number of trees that would be needed to generate that same level of offset. There is also a mobile phone app with its own robust monitoring and analysis features.
The MIM Technology
The MIM is a fully integrated device that converts the DC output of the photovoltaic module into grid-compliant AC power. In addition to performing the DC to AC conversion, it maximizes the photovoltaic modules’ energy production by using a sophisticated Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. This integrated system maximizes energy harvest, increases system reliability, and simplifies design, installation and management.
The web-based monitoring and analysis software analyzes the per-module data collected by each communicating micro-inverter. The MIM automatically detects any shortfall in energy production, identifies possible causes, and suggests solutions. The MIM constantly monitors every micro-inverter connected to the system and is essential for monitoring and troubleshooting.
