We founded Terrawise Homes with the goal of designing Net-Zero Energy Homes that meet the specific needs of current consumers — not just copies of plans from several years ago, but freshly designed for today’s buyers. We listen carefully to the comments from visitors to our models and our buyers, as well as reviewing new home designs across the country.  It's an ongoing process that is delivering new offerings and plans designed expressly for specific types of households, in this case “Empty Nesters”.

If you are in this group of couples whose children have left the nest, you may be considering a smaller new home than the one you occupied when raising those kids. Or you may have changed partners and are looking for a home that suits a new double-income lifestyle. For some, it's an unexpected intergenerational household by the addition of a single older relative, or a college graduate returning to roost while sorting out future career options.

Regardless of the unique situation, many of the empty nester couples we see are looking for a low-maintenance home with efficient floor plan and more than one guest bedroom for visiting children and possible grandchildren.  A two-car garage is necessary for cars and extra storage.  Our new Wekiva Series is designed for the way many Empty Nesters tell us they want to live.

WEKIVA
The Wekiva Model Modern Elevation Net Zero Energy Home from TerraWise Homes. This four-bedroom, two-bathroom plan is an expanded version of our popular “Satilla model.  The three guest bedrooms provide flexibility for a large number of visiting children or, more commonly, one or two private offices or hobby rooms. The private owner’s suite has large walk-in closet and walk-in shower. A double garage provides storage space as well as room for two cars.

WEKIVA II
This is a larger version of the Wekiva plan in which we were able to design more convenient bathroom access from the guest bedrooms (or den) and a larger living/dining/kitchen “Great Room”.  The use flexibility of these bedrooms for study, office, or hobby provides special customization opportunities for the owners. The continuation of the covered porch increases the outdoor living area so important to living in Northeast Florida's climate.

WEKIVA III.
The special need of one of our buyers for a grandmother suite was the genesis of this special Wekiva III plan.  It adds a separate sitting/dining room and bedroom with private porch in a lockout addition off the entry hall.  This plan is ideal for those Empty Nesters that have similar need to our buyer or just want to be prepared for the potential repopulating of the nest.

Preview the Wekiva series on our website (the latest versions are still in final design and will be added to the website soon) and then experience it at Cedarbrook, our new community on Cedar Point Road in North Jacksonville.
