Modern Look & Next-Zen Floor Plan
Household formations have changed quite a bit over the past decade in the U.S. Post the great recession, more families have had older children staying home longer or returning home after college. "Boomer" homeowners are also more likely to have an aging parent move in as an alternative to costly assisted living facilities.
These trends have brought on the advent of what has been termed "Next Generation" floor plans - houses designed with separate living areas to accommodate multiple generations residing under one roof.
We have introduced this concept in our Wekiva plan at Cedarbrook. This innovative floor plan has what we call the Next-Zen option that adds a separate private living suite. The suite is located at the front of the home just off the foyer. It's complete with a private entryway, large living area, full bathroom and bedroom with closet. There is also space in the suite to add a kitchenette and a stackable washer/dryer making it a complete independent living area.
So we've taken what was already a very versatile floor plan and I believe improved it greatly to accommodate families needing to share living space beyond the traditional household make up. The Wekiva as Next-Zen is perfect for these 21st century household formations.
That's on the inside. As with all our plans, we offer a variety of architectural styles. At Cedarbrook, each home offered is available in a Modern, Craftsman or Prairie elevation. The St. Marys Modern has been getting rave reviews for the first one we completed at Cedarbrook in late 2016. It's at the east end of Emillo Lane on the cul-de-sac.
